  • A drawer for sections you're not sure about

Not sure about a section? Move it to the drawer instead of deleting it. It keeps its lyrics, chords and takes, but it is not played or exported. Bring it back to the song whenever you want, or tap Swap to try it in place of another section and hear which works. Every move can be undone.

  • Five rock guitars

The rock guitar is now a family. Hard Rock is the one you know, with its heavy power chords. Pop Rock is bright and happy, with full chords, the sound of an upbeat opening song. Punk is raw and fast, Indie is light and jangly, and Metal is tight and heavy. Find them all in the instrument picker.

  • Mix and Export (PRO)

A new button in Export turns your song into a finished track. Each part gets the treatment it needs, your voice sits in front of the music with a touch of reverb, and the whole song is mastered to the loudness of music on streaming services, as a 320 kbps MP3. Want it different? Turn on Vocal louder, Less reverb or Warmer. The usual export is still there, and the ZIP export now includes your vocal effects and livelier MIDI for your DAW.

  • One menu for every section

Each section now shows just Play and a menu. Duplicate, Move to drawer, Copy lyrics to the other sections of the same type, Rename and Delete are all in it, the same in both views, with bigger buttons that are easier to tap. Delete is no longer right next to Play.

  • Voice notes that sound like you

Voice notes in Ideas are recorded clean, without the squeeze they used to get, and play back at an even level, so a quiet idea is easy to hear and a loud one is not harsh.

  • Takes on the beat, songs that load

Takes at the very start of a song, and takes heard after you press play in the middle of a section, played a little late. They now land on the beat, when you listen and in every export. A song with drums could stay on "Preparing audio" the first time on a new phone; it now always finishes, and the progress bar shows from the start. Stopping a full-song take right as it ended could offer the same take twice, and a take that failed could leave the microphone on; both are fixed.
