Songs repeat themselves. So does this app.
Doodle a base or start blank. Edit one section, the others follow. Write your lyrics, then sing over the chords.
The three pieces
Start halfway
Type a vibe, get a playable song in seconds: chords, drums, bass, optional melody. Or open blank and add one chord at a time.
Sections that act like sections
Verses repeat. Choruses repeat. Edit one, the others follow. That's how songs work, and how the app works.
Write the lyrics, then sing them
Lyrics mode is the default writing surface. Hit record when the words feel right, and the teleprompter scrolls your lyrics while you sing. Stack takes, keep the best one.
How it works
Doodle an instrumental base, then hum the song through
Pick a vibe, get chords, drums, and bass in seconds. You bring the melody.
Edit by section
Each section holds its own chords, rhythm, drums, bass, lyrics, and recordings.
Don't repeat yourself
Edit one verse, the others follow. Push chords, rhythm, or lyrics. Pick what mirrors and what stays unique.
Write the lyrics, sing them, publish
Lyrics mode is the default writing surface. Hit record and the teleprompter scrolls your lyrics. Publish with its own page when it's done.
Song Structure & Templates
The main editor for your song. Add sections, rearrange them, break them apart, put them back together. Each section holds its chords, rhythm, drums, bass, and recordings. Start from a template or build your own.
Lyrics Editor
A focused writer's view: section-by-section lyrics aligned with your chords, with syllable counts, inline rhyme suggestions, a notes pane for ideas, and compact recording takes right under each section so you can hum a melody as you write. Keep alternative versions per section. Paste a chord sheet and the key, BPM, and chords pre-fill.
Rhyme Suggestions
Stuck on a lyric? Get rhyme suggestions in English and Spanish, right there in the app.
Chord Picker
Pick a key, get chord suggestions, randomize progressions, or type any chord you want. Control voicing per chord to rearrange notes and octaves. Solfège names (Lam, Fa, Sol7) by default in Spanish, international (Am, F, G7) in English. Toggle either way in Settings.
Recording
Record section by section or play through the whole song and let it auto-slice into parts. Stack multiple takes, layer harmonies on top. The teleprompter scrolls your lyrics so you can sing without losing your place.
Melody Creator
Draw melodies on a grid, layer multiple instruments, and use the audio-to-pitch detector to record a melody and paint over it. Plays your chord progression underneath so everything fits. Works for bass and drum patterns too.
Strum Patterns
Pick a strumming pattern and your chords play with that rhythm. Down and up strums sound different, with accent and role per step for a natural feel. Build your own or pick from a growing library of presets across genres.
25+ Instruments
Piano, acoustic & electric guitar, rock guitar, organ, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, violin, cello, harp, xylophone, music box, and more. Pre-built sounds that download in seconds. No synthesizing, no waiting.
Guitar Tab Generation
Play guitar? Generate tabs for your chord progression right there. No need to look them up somewhere else.
Audio & Text Scratchpad
Got a loose idea that doesn't belong to any song yet? Drop it in the scratchpad. Voice memos, text notes, color-coded. Grab them later when you need them.
Voice Effects
Reverb, delay, and other processing on your recordings. Try different sounds before picking a take.
Export to MP3
Adjust timing, tweak effects, and export when you're ready to take it somewhere else.
Publish & Share
Make your song public with its own page. Anyone can listen with a visualizer, see the chords and lyrics. Your own artist profile included.
Export to MIDI
Melodoodle is for writing the song, not producing it. When the song is done, hand the MIDI to Logic, Ableton, FL Studio, or whatever you produce in. Chords, melodies, bass, and drums export as separate tracks.
Drums
30 preset patterns for pop, rock, jazz, latin, electronic, hip-hop and more. Or build your own in the drum sequencer. Each pattern adapts its rows to show only the instruments it uses.
Bass
Bass lines that follow your chord progression automatically. Pick from genre presets or draw your own patterns in the shared sequencer.
Transpose & Voicings
Shift your entire song to a new key. Custom chord voicings let you rearrange individual notes and octaves. Melodies and bass patterns get duplicated in the new key automatically.
Everything else? Free. Fully functional. No walls.
